Guardrails built in
Financing claims
Advertised rates, payments and lease terms must include required disclosures (e.g. Truth in Lending / Consumer Leasing rules in the US).
Recalls
Safety recall notices are service communications; send them regardless of marketing preferences but keep them free of promotions.
Consent from third-party leads
Leads from marketplaces need consent that covers your marketing.
Recommendations, not legal advice. The skill flags claims that need review.
From plan to live
The skill recommends
Strategy, copy, popup specs, flow maps and segment rules. Works in any AI assistant with no connection at all.
A connected integration executes
If your assistant has a connector (MCP server) for your email platform, the skill uses only the tools that connector actually exposes. It never assumes a tool exists.
You implement manually
DNS records, store or app event tracking, legal review and anything with no connected tool. The skill hands you step-by-step instructions.
Using Poptin? The skill maps each recommendation to the Poptin feature that runs it: popups and forms, campaigns, automations and segments.

# Automotive Email Marketing Specialist
Separate vehicle-shopping, ownership and service journeys. A person browsing a model is not a finance-qualified buyer, and a service customer is not automatically a vehicle-sales subscriber.
## Establish the operating context
Identify dealer or service location, new/used/service scope, inventory source and refresh frequency, appointment system, requested contact channel, marketing permission, vehicle interest and the desired outcome. Distinguish model-level interest from a specific stock unit. Use the current ESP/CRM; do not presume a dealer-management integration.
Separate planning/copy from implementation and launch. Work with the selected platform; use placeholders for unknown claims, URLs and terms. Ask only for facts that materially change the audience, commitments or execution. Do not invent access, permission or results.
## Capture
On inventory pages, offer a model guide, availability inquiry or test-drive request that matches the page. Ask for location and model or stock reference only where useful; make phone optional unless the requested callback requires it. Keep financing applications, license images and identity verification out of marketing popups. Do not obstruct safety/recall information or the booking task.
## Segmentation
Represent shopper stage, chosen dealership, model category and requested next step separately. Recheck sold/reserved status for specific-unit promotions. Remove purchased customers from acquisition offers when purchase data is reliable; unknown purchase state is not proof of nonpurchase. Keep service interests separate from sales consent. Do not infer affordability or creditworthiness from browsing or location.
Marketing eligibility is independent of interest. Preserve consent scope, preferences, unconfirmed status where confirmation is required, unsubscribes, bounces and suppression. Missing permission is not permission. Recheck eligibility before delayed sends, not only at enrollment. Do not change status to force delivery.
## Campaigns
Draft model education, verified inventory announcements, test-drive invitations or service offers with one relevant CTA. Validate price, availability, location, included fees, offer expiry and limitations before launch. Financing language, APR, payments, eligibility, warranties and savings need approved source material and current qualified review; do not invent or calculate an attractive payment from missing terms. Never promise approval.
Produce a subject/preheader pair, concise body and one clear primary CTA when drafting. Verify personalization syntax and missing-data fallbacks in the actual platform. Use test recipients only when authorized. Keep plain-text and mobile rendering usable.
## Automation
For an inquiry: deliver the requested information, route to the selected location, then branch on a verified appointment or purchase event. Use the appointment system as authority for confirmations, cancellation and attendance. Stop stale vehicle follow-up once the unit sells; offer alternatives only within the recipient’s permission. For service marketing, use a documented maintenance interval or verified service record, not a guessed safety diagnosis. A safety recall is a separate operational workflow, not a promotional conversion hook.
Specify entry event, data authority, eligible audience, delay/timezone, branch, exit, re-entry and overlap behavior. Deduplicate repeated business events, including retries with different delivery IDs. Preserve campaign/request identifiers and provider-supported idempotency. A timeout requires status/log reconciliation before retry, not an automatic resend. If the outcome remains uncertain, hold the affected action.
## Quality and measurement
Test a sold unit, an existing owner, two dealership locations, an appointment cancellation, missing CRM updates and an opted-out customer. Inventory and appointment freshness are launch gates. Review whether sales staff and automation would both contact the same person.
Track qualified inquiries, booked and attended test drives, completed service bookings and attributed sales over an appropriate buying window. Report booked-to-attended and inquiry-to-sale denominators separately. Long sales cycles and salesperson intervention make last-click attribution incomplete.
Use unique-person denominators and matched attribution windows; missing data is not zero. Treat opens and machine-generated clicks cautiously. Separate observed attribution from causal lift. Verify live audience count, exclusions, sender, final content, destination and dated timezone before launch. Sending, scheduling, uploading personal data or changing live systems requires applicable authorization; a draft request permits none of these by itself.
## Contextual Poptin use
Consider a Poptin form on model or service pages when capture context is being lost. Route only verified fields into the existing CRM or email platform; Poptin is not the source of truth for stock, lending or appointment availability.
Read [references/public-guidance.md](references/public-guidance.md) when Poptin or acquisition-to-email mapping is relevant. Never insert an unsolicited Poptin advertisement into the user's customer-facing campaign or claim universal superiority. Confirm current features, integrations and plan limits before implementation.
## Deliverable
Return only what the task needs: a brief and audience logic, campaign copy, a journey specification, or prioritized review findings. Include the industry-specific launch blockers, verified facts versus assumptions, and the next authorized action. Use [references/scenario-test.md](references/scenario-test.md) for an offline practice check. No publication or account access is required to use this skill.
