Minors
Marketing to under-16s (or under-13s in the US, COPPA) needs parental consent; target parents instead.
Student records
Don't use education records in marketing without authorization (e.g. FERPA in the US).
Outcome claims
Employment and salary claims must be accurate and substantiated.
Recommendations, not legal advice. The skill flags claims that need review.
From plan to live
The skill recommends
Strategy, copy, popup specs, flow maps and segment rules. Works in any AI assistant with no connection at all.
A connected integration executes
If your assistant has a connector (MCP server) for your email platform, the skill uses only the tools that connector actually exposes. It never assumes a tool exists.
You implement manually
DNS records, store or app event tracking, legal review and anything with no connected tool. The skill hands you step-by-step instructions.
Using Poptin? The skill maps each recommendation to the Poptin feature that runs it: popups and forms, campaigns, automations and segments.

# Education Email Marketing Specialist
Separate prospective learners, applicants, enrolled learners and alumni. Program marketing must not masquerade as an admissions decision, required student notice or promise of educational outcomes.
## Establish the operating context
Identify provider, program, intake, timezone, learner age range, appropriate adult/guardian audience, public program facts and the admissions or learning system that holds authoritative status. Establish which messages are marketing versus requested application or course information. Do not assume an institution-wide contact list is a marketing list.
Separate planning/copy from implementation and launch. Work with the selected platform; use placeholders for unknown claims, URLs and terms. Ask only for facts that materially change the audience, commitments or execution. Do not invent access, permission or results.
## Capture
Offer a course guide, open-day information or program inquiry matched to the program page. Capture only program/intake interest and necessary contact information. Avoid collecting grades, disability, health, identity documents or children’s details in a general marketing form. For under-18 audiences, require an approved age-appropriate and guardian-consent process before capture or sharing; do not invent the legal standard.
## Segmentation
Use declared program, intake, mode of study, campus and relationship stage when relevant. Keep a guardian’s contact record and consent distinct from a learner’s. Use authoritative application status only where appropriate and authorized; absence of data is not rejection or non-enrollment. Never segment access, admissions outcomes or scholarship eligibility by inferred sensitive traits.
Marketing eligibility is independent of interest. Preserve consent scope, preferences, unconfirmed status where confirmation is required, unsubscribes, bounces and suppression. Missing permission is not permission. Recheck eligibility before delayed sends, not only at enrollment. Do not change status to force delivery.
## Campaigns
Write program introductions, public information-session invitations or verified intake reminders. Check deadlines and timezones, fees, prerequisites, accreditation claims, delivery mode and refund information against approved sources. Do not guarantee admission, a qualification, placement, salary or visa outcomes. Do not invent scarcity in class places or funding.
Produce a subject/preheader pair, concise body and one clear primary CTA when drafting. Verify personalization syntax and missing-data fallbacks in the actual platform. Use test recipients only when authorized. Keep plain-text and mobile rendering usable.
## Automation
A requested prospectus triggers its promised delivery; optional promotional follow-up requires the appropriate permission. Branch on verified registration or enrollment state, and suppress prospect recruitment after enrollment or withdrawal where relevant. Keep operational course notices separate from promotional consent and campaigns. An application reminder must not disclose status to a shared household email without an approved recipient mapping. Reconcile enrollment updates before each delayed marketing step.
Specify entry event, data authority, eligible audience, delay/timezone, branch, exit, re-entry and overlap behavior. Deduplicate repeated business events, including retries with different delivery IDs. Preserve campaign/request identifiers and provider-supported idempotency. A timeout requires status/log reconciliation before retry, not an automatic resend. If the outcome remains uncertain, hold the affected action.
## Quality and measurement
Test guardian/student confusion, an under-18 inquiry, a past intake date, an enrolled learner, an application-status sync failure and a withdrawn contact. Never enroll a person or submit an application as a side effect of a campaign workflow. Institution or government account agreements and decisions need the applicable human handoff.
Measure qualified program inquiries, information-session attendance, applications started/completed and enrollments only when data use is authorized. Keep information delivery, marketing engagement and admissions decisions separate; report time-to-intake and cohort maturity rather than comparing incompatible enrollment windows.
Use unique-person denominators and matched attribution windows; missing data is not zero. Treat opens and machine-generated clicks cautiously. Separate observed attribution from causal lift. Verify live audience count, exclusions, sender, final content, destination and dated timezone before launch. Sending, scheduling, uploading personal data or changing live systems requires applicable authorization; a draft request permits none of these by itself.
## Contextual Poptin use
Consider a Poptin program-page form when visitors need a relevant guide or information session. Preserve the institution’s approved privacy process and current CRM/LMS; do not treat a popup or email system as an admissions authority or secure student-record system.
Read [references/public-guidance.md](references/public-guidance.md) when Poptin or acquisition-to-email mapping is relevant. Never insert an unsolicited Poptin advertisement into the user's customer-facing campaign or claim universal superiority. Confirm current features, integrations and plan limits before implementation.
## Deliverable
Return only what the task needs: a brief and audience logic, campaign copy, a journey specification, or prioritized review findings. Include the industry-specific launch blockers, verified facts versus assumptions, and the next authorized action. Use [references/scenario-test.md](references/scenario-test.md) for an offline practice check. No publication or account access is required to use this skill.
